My view?

Dog ownership is less about winning control than about winning respect. Control is a useful by product of respect but isn’t the whole picture. And the way to respect? The Three C’s: Consistency, Calm, Confidence.

Easier said than done, I know, and I’m as guilty as the next person of losing at least one of the three every now and again. But next time you meet a well-behaved dog (or indeed when you look at your own!), check out his/her owner – I bet their doggy ethos is more about Consistency, Calm and Confidence than it is about either a pocketful of treats or a sharply tugged choke chain…

Thoughts?
